Artist Statement:
My most current work reflects my fascination with geological earth forms, the depth and subtlety of rock textural surfaces, and the variety of patterns and colors found in nature. I am greatly influenced by the out of doors and find it manifests itself in my ideas and my work with clay.
General Information:
My pieces are made with stoneware, porcelain, and low fire earthenware clay. They are thrown on the wheel or hand built or the combination of both wheel and hand built techniques. Surfaces are manipulated with pressed in textural designs, slips, underglazes, and a variety of glazes. My pieces are multi-fired by an electric kiln, pit firing, raku firing, and gas kiln firing.
